The Adamantus Swallowtail is the largest subspecies in a group of nearly identical butterflies, most of which are half its size. As with other Gloss Swallowtails, tiny iridescent scales are seemingly airbrushed onto a palette of velvet black, coalescing into random patches of brilliant color. Males and females of this species are similarly adorned.
