Silurian Crinoid Fossil // 20" x 24"
Product Description
Stalked Crinoids or "sea lilies" are a part of the echinoderm family. The adult forms of these Paleozoic organisms lived attached to the bottom of the ocean and filtered food particles from the currents flowing past them. Crinoids dominated the Paleozoic fossil record until the Permo-Triassic extinction. Sometimes called "living fossils", the modern-day descendents of this deep-water plant like animal can be found on the ocean floor in water 100 to 200 meters deep.
