The Parnassius or "Apollo" Butterflies are a unique genus in several ways. Their tremendously vast, high altitude range stretches from the Alps in Europe to the Himalayas and beyond to Eastern China. They also show a remarkable range of markings always within a limited palette of white, charcoal and red.
