Centrally located between San Francisco and Los Angeles along California's Central Coast, Paso Robles Wine Country is California's fastest growing wine region and largest geographic appellation. The appellation lies on the inland side of the Santa Lucia coastal mountains in San Luis Obispo County, just six miles from the Pacific Ocean. With a greater day-to-night temperature swing than any other appellation in California, distinct microclimates, diverse soils, and a long growing season, Paso Robles is a unique wine region blessed with optimal growing conditions for producing premium and ultra premium wines.

The PharaohMoans vineyard and winery are on the westside of Paso Robles near the Templeton Gap, a breach in the coastal mountain range where the cooling ocean breezes temper the hot summer days of northern San Luis Obispo County. The resultant temperature swing from day to night can be as much as 40 degrees. The soils of this area are also well suited for vineyards, with limestone, clay, and rock-shell creating a lean environment for the grapes.

The PharaohMoans 2017 fruit is grown separately in three different blocks. The first two blocks are head trained vines on Alban clones. They grow naturally wild, exhibiting a great profile of fruit, minerality, and tannin structure due to the unique limestone soils. The other block grows on clay, trellised with vertical growth to provide dark berry flavors and a firm backbone to the blend.

The PharaohMoans 2017 Syrah uses 60% new oak and exudes notes of black fruits, smoked meats and exotic spice due to the stem inclusions. The palate is lush and floral with great chewy tannin structure offering aromas of black licorice and boysenberry and plum compote. The aging potential is 10-14 years.
