Jaguar D-Type
Product Description
Speed not only won races — speed also sold cars and Jaguar was very aware of that. Not long after the winning streak of the Jaguar C-Type at Le Mans the technology became out-dated and so it was to be replaced by the exceptionally beautiful and more technologically advanced D-Type.
Much of the internals, as well as the engine were carried over straight from the C-Type. The car was still powered by the same XK six-cylinder pushing out somewhere around 250 horsepower. The improved aerodynamics and the reduced drag (to which Jaguar referred to as horsepower needed to maintain 100mph) meant that it could achieve almost 180mph down the Mulsanne straight. In the 1950s!
