Product Description

Sundial are ancient devices that tell the time of day by the apparent position of the sun in the sky. It consists of a flat plate and a raised piece that casts a shadow onto the dial. As the sun moves, if the raised piece is aligned with the Earth's axis, the shadow aligns with the different hour lines on the dial to indicate the approximate time of day.

This Pandeia Sundial Watch has miniaturized the historic sundial so it can be worn on the wrist like a modern day watch. It lets you tell the time the same way our ancestors did, and keeps you from tracking your day down the minute— perfect for reminding you that rushing is not always necessary. The dial wing can even be lifted and laid down, so there are no protruding parts when you aren't actively using the dial.

To use your Pandeia compass sundial watch in the Northern Hemisphere, hold it level, and lift the dial wing upright into position. Observe the directional markings engraved under the glass on the compass face, and locate the North directional. Align the compass arrow over the North directional, and the dial wing will cast a shadow on the roman numerals, telling you the time. to use your watch in the Southern Hemisphere, do the same, but align the compass arrow with the South directional.

When using a sundial, remember to allow for slight variation in accuracy, depending on the time of year and your location on Earth.

FAQ
Is the compass 100% accurate ?

Yes, the compass is accurate.

What if it’s cloudy?

For the sundial to cast a strong shadow it does need full sun.

Are the variations important or can anyone be used for general time?

The watches tell “apparent” time. The earth spins on a tilt so on the equinoxes the time is exact. You then slowly watch it go to 28min fast, back to right on, then to 28min slow, rinse repeat. But yes, they can be used of course to tell general time.

What's the length of the band?

The band will fit an average 8” wrist, with adjustability.
