Since 1892, the United States Mint has operated an illustrious commemorative coin program exclusively for collectors. The 250th anniversary of Washington’s birth was celebrated with a special silver commemorative half dollar minted in 1982. Both a proof specimen and a mint state specimen were struck and you will receive one of each. Each coin is housed in an airtight capsule and presented in a plush-lined box.
