How long will ice keep in the dispenser once the container is removed from the freezer?

It depends a lot on the room temperature or the outside temperature if brought outside. in 71 degrees Fahrenheit, the ice cubes inside ICEBREAKER will start to melt after 45 minutes. If put in a cooling bag, this will prolong the melting of the ice cubes substantially.

How large are the ice cubes and is the shape square, rectangular or round?

They are about 1.6 x 0.9 x 1.20 inches and they have a crescent shape.

Is the top difficult to turn?

No, it does not require a lot of force to turn the lid and dispense the ice cubes.
