Sawos Standing Male Figure
Product Description
This is a life-sized figure of a standing, nude, male ancestor, with a typical large, ovular head with flat facial plane bearing large shell eyes, inset into the raised orbits and long nose with flared nostrils and raised bridge. He also has a wide, crescentic mouth with two raised cheek nodes above and ridged hairdo. The body bears incised scarification on the pectorals and upper arms. The body and integral base are painted black, while the face is painted red and white. From Middle Sepik River region, Papua New Guinea.
