Remarkable Egyptian Scarab Amulet Carved From Rock // Ancient Egypt Ca. 2000-500 BCE
Product Description
A finely carved blue scarab. This beautiful Egyptian amulet was used as part of a necklace approximately 3,000 years ago. The scarab was seen as a symbol of the heavenly cycle and of the idea of rebirth or regeneration. The Egyptian god Khepri, Ra as the rising sun, was often depicted as a scarab beetle or as a scarab beetle-headed man. Scarabs were generally either carved from stone (such as this piece) or molded from Egyptian faience. They became popular since the middle kingdom (2500 BCE).
