A magnificent male courtier from the Ming Dynasty, 1368-1644 AD, in excellent condition. At 82.5 cm tall, this immense figure is wearing a traditional hanfu shades of blue and black. It is standing on a rectangular black & blue plinth and the unglazed areas have pigmented colors in red, black and white with finely expressed facial features. The head is detachable, as often seen on the larger figures from this period.
The figure holds a blue pipe at his chest with his right hand, a hanging pouch, and a blue bowl on his left hand. Guaranteed authentic, it comes complete with a certificate of authenticity, as well as TL Test No. 28R210317 from Laboratory Kotalla in Germany— the oldest private laboratory specialized in Scientific Authenticity of Thermoluminescence Analysis in the world.
