Egyptian Blue Scarab Faience Amulet
Product Description
This beautiful, blue-green, finely carved Blue Scarab Amulet was used as part of an Egyptian necklace approximately 3,000 years ago. The scarab was seen as a symbol of the heavenly cycle and of the idea of rebirth or regeneration. The Egyptian god Khepri, Ra as the rising sun, was often depicted as a scarab beetle or as a scarab beetle-headed man. They became popular in the Middle Kingdom (2500 bc). The sintered-quartz ceramic displays surface vitrification, which creates a bright luster of various colors.
