This coin depicts Gordian III , Roman emperor from 238-244 CE. Because of his age (thirteen years old) he was given little if any real authority and most of the power remained in the hands of the Roman senate. His reign was very short and full of unrest, when he tried to take over Persia, it's Emperor Philippe refused to follow his orders. He made his troops choose between him and the Persian king, his men chose the latter.
