From the Musha Series comes this beautifully detailed, hand forged Ceremonial Tachi. Featuring a full tang 1045 high carbon steel blade, this a resilient katana that is sharp right out of the box. Its impressive design is complemented by metal alloy fittings in luminous gold and cool grey tones, as well as a real wood Tsuka wrapped with black synthetic leather with detailed metal kashira and fuchi. The matching scabbard continues with detailed metal accessories, and is finished with a black and gold cloth brocade and a deluxe, multi-colored cotton sageo.

Tachi are often confused with Katana. They are very similar, but generally differ in length, degree of curvature, and how they were worn when sheathed. The tachi style of swords preceded the development of the katana, which was not mentioned by name until near the end of the twelfth century. Tachi however, are known to have been made in the Kotō period, ranging from 900 to 1596.

How sharp are these swords?

All Musha swords are hand sharpened and are ready to cut right out of the box.

How many times was blade folded?

The Jintachi katana was not folded. It was hand forged using a single block of high carbon steel.

How are they heat treated?

Our Musashi line of katana are clay tempered and heat treated. The Musha line are not heat treated.

Are they not made in Japan?

They are not. They are hand-forged in China using Traditional Japanese forging techniques.
