Musha
Musha Hijikata Toshizo Katana
Product Description
From the Musha Kotoku series comes this intricately hand forged Katana with the crest of Hijikata Toshizo. Full tang 1045 high carbon steel makes this a resilient katana that is sharp right out of the box. The detailed tsuba shows the family crest surrounded by ocean waves.
Hijikata Toshizo was the Vice Commander of the famous Shinsengumi. He was a great swordsman and a talented military leader who resisted the Meiji Restoration. He was universally feared by his enemies as well as his subordinates, earning the nickname Oni no fukucho, or Demon Vice-Commander.
A unique feature is the integrated Bo-Hi on the blade. Bo-Hi is commonly known as blood grooves, but that is a misconception. The purpose of the Bo-Hi is to help reduce the weight of the katana. Making the katana lighter enables the user to weld the katana smoother and puts less stress on the hands.
All Musha swords are able to be fully disassembled. The Kaku Gata style Tusba, Fuchi, Kashira all can be swapped out for a different set. The real wood handle is wrapped with traditional cotton.
