Musashi Asahina Katana

From the Musashi Silver Collection Shirakawa Series comes this intricately hand crafted “Asahina" Katana. Using Maru-kitae hand forged technique with 1060 high carbon steel, the result is a beautiful and resilient blade with a unique hamon pattern. The Asahina Katana is full tang, razor sharp, and ready to cut.

The detailed Maru Gata style iron tsuba is a stylized Asahina family crest. The Asahina family was a Japanese clan during the Sengoku period who were known to be fierce warriors who were feared by all their enemies. The wood handle is real ray skin wrapped in traditional black cotton cord while the high gloss saya makes the Asahina katana a great piece to your collection.

An additional feature is the integrated Bo-Hi on the blade. Bo-Hi are commonly known as blood grooves, but that is a misconception. The purpose of the Bo-Hi is to help reduce the weight of the katana, and actually has nothing to do with channeling blood. Making the Katana lighter enables the user to weld the katana more smoothly and puts less stress on the hands. Not to mention it benefits some advance cutting techniques that require the katana to change direction rapidly.

Included with this katana is a sword bag. Each sword is individually numbered on the tang and comes complete with a matching Certificate of Authenticity.
