Sunset In Venice by Claude Monet
Product Description
Sunset in Venice, also known by its original name San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk, was painted by Claude Monet in 1908 using the oil technique. The painting represents the dusk in San Giorgio Maggiore, an island off of the coast of Venice, Italy. It represents a riverscape and seascape with beautiful blended colors on the scene.
What Monet wanted to represent with this painting is how the retina identifies sensory information before it recognizes the object. He wanted to share the experience of a blind person that suddenly got his sight back, which he was clearly afraid of, as he was suffering from gray cataracts.
