Usually found in limestone-rich terrain, as well as in oakwood and pinewoods, Black Summer Truffles are best when picked between May and September - like these fresh Italian ones. They are most classically used in truffle sauce, by adding grated truffles into warm olive oil with a touch of garlic, salt and pepper, which is then brushed or drizzled onto dishes like bruschettas, pasta, or fish.
