When Chris James and Ames Morison founded the Medlock Ames winery in 1998, they were committed to creating quality wine through mindful and organic farming on their Bell Mountain Estate Ranch. With less than 20% planted to vines, this unique Alexander Valley location affords the winery a multitude of microclimates and well-drained, gravelly-clay soil with a compacted layer of volcanic ash underneath to grow their grapes. There’s a strong sense of place and personality in their estate wines, and it's something that they pride themselves on.

2018 is one of the great vintages for Sonoma red varietals and this 100% estate-grown, 100% organically-farmed wine showcases the best from this region. The key ripening period in late summer and early fall was cool and sunny, delaying harvest by a week but allowing full flavor development. Medlock Ames was blessed with a vintage they always dream about: abundant fruit of excellent quality.

The inky dark 2018 Estate Red offers upfront aromas of blackberry jam, plum, and cocoa supported by more subtle notes of nutmeg and rose petal. The wine is soft and supple with ripe berry flavors on the palate. Positively overflowing with blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. The wine finishes with notes of licorice and leather. This is the wine you will share with your bubble this holiday season or savor yourself by the fire all winter long.
