Allegory of the Patriotic War of 1812 // Aristarkh Vasilyevich Lentulov // 1914
Product Description
A radical departure from the 19th century Romantic and Realist styles that predated it, Cubism is regarded by historians and artists alike as one of the most influential movements in the contemporary art world, leaving its mark on a slew of art styles ranging from turn-of-the-century Art Deco and architecture, to modern Dada and Pop art styles. In Cubist artwork, objects are analyzed, broken up, and reassembled in an abstracted, 2-dimensional form. Instead of depicting objects from a single viewpoint, the artist renders the subject from a multitude of contrasting viewpoints to represent the subject in a greater context. Angular, geometric, and enrapturing, give your art collection an avant garde twist with this remarkable reproduction of an iconic Cubist artwork.
Aristarkh Vasilyevich Lentulov (1882 - 1943) was a Russian Cubist painter and theater set designer. He studied art in the Penza and Kiev art schools from 1897 to 1905, and then in the private studio of Dmitry Kardovsky in Saint Petersburg in 1906. he became one of the founders of the avant-garde exhibiting association of artists, the Jack of Diamonds group. This group remained active until its dissolution in 1916.
