Maroon Wines
Maroon Wines Reserve Napa Cabernet Sauvignon Vertical // 3 Bottles
Product Description
Maroon Wines was founded by Paul Maroon in 2008. The focus of Maroon is usually on single-varietal, single-vineyard wines, and its philosophy is to introduce as little winemaking manipulation as possible from the vineyard to the bottle. Along with its estate vineyard, Maroon sources from a variety of premium vineyards in the Valley and handcrafts a number of very-small-production wines from vineyard sources that may change from year to year. These wines are often only made available to its wine club and a select few others.
This trio of Maroon's Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons is what is considered a "vertical"; bottles of the same wine, from multiple consecutive years, allowing you to taste the difference that things like age, climate, and weather make, within wine that would otherwise be exactly the same.
The 2012 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon features a ruby color, with aromas of olive, dried berries, forest floor, and honeycomb with a satiny, bright, dryish medium body. A graceful, intricate, medium-long finish with cassis, nuts, and cocoa and fine, well-integrated tannins. A rich, earthy, and layered Cabernet with great table appeal.
The 2013 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is a bright garnet-black color. Delicate fruity, jammy, and baked aromas of cassis soufflƩ, vanilla buttercream, delicate spiced nougat, and dried fruits. Velvety, vibrant, dryish medium-to-full body and a tingling, complex, medium-long finish with salty roasted nuts, root vegetables, cedar bark, cherry cola, and dried meat. Fine, well-integrated tannins and moderate oak. A supple, mellow, meaty Cabernet that will pair brilliantly with beef dishes.
The 2014 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was harvested from the home vineyard in the Coombsville district of Napa Valley. It is a little cooler in the southern end of the valley and the grapes ripen slowly and evenly. The wine has rich, alluring aromas of dark fruit and balanced oak. On the palate, the wine is bold, showing dark fruit flavors, nicely balanced with rich and creamy oak tones. The finish is long and lingering.
