Shawn Carling first took up lamp-making as a pet project. After building a dash lamp for his father to remind him of life on the farm, he knew he found his calling, and one that was sorely needed in the design industry: a line of lighting that incorporates true 18th and 19th century antiques. Now a thriving business, Machine Age Lamps hand crafts one-of-a-kind lamps from antique gauges, gears and components from early American factories and planes. With individual serial numbers, cutting-edge and extremely safe wiring, and safe finishes so that the lamps maintain their vintage integrity, they're truly a unique luxury.
