STARDECK

Alex and Meg Griendling, founders of Minneapolis-based creative studio Lunar Saloon, were determined to created a gorgeous, totally unique, and extremely high-quality deck of cards, based on science fiction that wasn't borrowed from existing properties. Together, they conceived, designed, and illustrated the STARDECK.

A custom card deck with 54 poker-sized playing cards and a unique tuck box, STARDECK feautes gorgeous artwork, inspired by vintage card decks, that visually tells the story of four archetypal sci-fi factions (represented by each suit) as they vie for control over Proxima B, Earth's terrestrial neighbor in the Proxima Centauri system.

Proxima B's native population, subterranean aliens known as Spades, are defending their world from outside invaders. Their overwhelming numbers have enabled them to fend off Earth's militarized colonization effort so far, but the battle rages on.

The first to touch down on Proxima B was Earth's most decorated combat unit, The Club. Quickly overrun by the Spade horde, The Club's surviving members are now defending their landing site from the planet's hostile natives until help arrives.

Help may come in the form of the The Hearts, an advanced robot population that gained sentience after being built by humans, and are now aiding Earth's various civilian and military factions through combat, manufacturing, and espionage, in the hopes of one day achieving equal treatment and representation on Earth.

Above it all, The shady Diamond Corporation, currently profiting from a lucrative arms market, are diversifying into natural resource commodities, and have arrived on Proxima B with the goal of claiming rights to the planet's unassigned lands, while the locals are occupied with the war effort.
