Luckenbach Road Whiskey is a true farm-to-bottle, small batch spirit made in the heart of Texas Hill Country. Seeking the Lone Star State’s promising life and land, Heinrich “Henry” Ochs moved his family from Germany to Fredericksburg ,Texas, where he became one of the town’s first teachers, as well as a County Clerk. In 1868, Henry took it upon himself to establish one of the first distilleries in Gillespie County, as well as the Buckhorn Saloon. The saloon quickly became a popular watering hole serving the family’s beer and whiskey recipes made from the local harvest. Today, Luckenbach's founder—Stewart Lawrence Skloss—continues this family tradition by following the same handcrafted recipe his great-great-great-grandfather created over 175 years ago.

Caring about what’s in the bottle begins with caring about what’s outside of it. That’s why sustainability is a key component of Luckenbach. They work closely with Texas A&M University Department of Soil and Crop Sciences to maximize and develop crops specific to the climate and growing conditions. Together, the experts are helping them create and cultivate blue, purple, red, yellow, and Indian corns along with wheat, barley, and rye that will all be used to make their incredible whiskey. These components help each bottle capture the unique richness and depth and complexity of local flavors for a tried-and-true taste.

Crafted from family-farmed rye, Luckenbach Rye is perfect for sipping. This straight rye whiskey has that undeniable spicy, complex taste but with smooth tones of maple, oak, and nutmeg and a light, smooth finish.
