Luciteria
Lucite Cube // Zinc
Product Description
Zinc is a cheap metal. Mundane to the point of contempt. It's the humble innards just under the surface of a penny because otherwise a penny that is copper to the core would cost a pretty penny. It weathers poorly so that it tarnishes quickly in air and often corrodes completely.
But this sample of zinc was deliberately designed to be unconventional as possible. This unique texture is created by allowing molten zinc to fall in cold water where it instantly freezes solid to retain the drop-like shapes it had while still molten. They are then gathered into a tight grouping and left to be immobilized by the curing acrylic resin that will become an acrylic block. They're handmade, so no two will be exactly alike, but all share the same basic layout that sets them apart from all the other elements in your collection.
