Model Landmarks
Queenslander Diamond
Product Description
With its pyramid-style roof and stepped down verandah, the Queenslander's appearance is distinctive and almost iconic. This model features a beautiful diamond-style veranda rail that was ideally suited to the local conditions, with French doors opening out on to a verandah that wraps around all four sides of the building. Walls are vertical VJ boards with a horizontal chair rail. Windows are all double hung sashes. A kitchen was often accommodated in the rear corner of the verandah.
This is an authentic replica of the unique Australian houses you might see as you drive around the region they represent. They reflect the identity of the people who built them and the environment for which they were designed. Cut from timber and easy to construct, your Queenslander model has a feel of authenticity that comes from its intensely-researched historical accuracy.
A great, one-evening kind of project, this kit includes wooden parts and sandpaper. Wood glue is required to complete the model and is not included with the kit. Not in the mood to build it yourself? Choose the Finished Model version.
To assemble this scale model, you will need a flat work surface that is at least 18" by 18"; white glue, brands like Elmers or Titebond Premium work well; and a knife to separate wood parts from the sheets.
