About the Designer

Coming from a long line of artists and creative entrepreneurs, Leigh Luna founder Katie Dawley was destined to strike out on her own one day. Born in the DC area and formally trained as a fashion designer, she got her start in NYC. The corporate fashion industry wasn’t quite as creative as she anticipated and didn't leave much room for experimentation. The 9 to 5 left her yearning to get back in the studio. She took up silversmithing as a weekend hobby and launched Leigh Luna in late 2011 as a creative outlet. The brand quickly became recognized for its androgynous metal jewelry with a rustic modern edge. A few short years later, Leigh Luna has developed a loyal following both domestically and abroad. A passion for the environment is embodied in each piece that is individually handcrafted in her wind powered New York City studio using recycled metals and sustainable practices whenever possible.
