Product Description

Kukeri Wines source grapes from some of the most unusual vineyards in Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Founder and winemaker Petar Kirilov grew up in Bulgaria, and graduated from the prestigious University of Food Technologies with a master’s degree in winemaking. He has worked at Truchard Vineyards, Meadowcroft Wines and Foyt Wines as a winemaker and created Kukeri Wines to focus on the production of small-lot quality wines from single vineyards.

Bold and very well balanced, the 2017 Kukeri Calistoga Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits aromas of dark fruit, plum, warm spices and cigar box. On the palate, the rich and concentrated flavors of ripe blackberry, boysenberries and fresh mountain herbs are in perfect harmony with the rich, velvety texture and beautifully integrated tannins. Great acidity and structure combined with a lush suppleness contributes to the elegant silky finish, which makes this Cabernet Sauvignon a perfect accompaniment to any grilled meat dishes.

Located between the Mayacamas Range on the west and the Vaca Range on the east, the Calistoga AVA lies at the northern end of the Napa Valley. From the foot of Mount St. Helena, the appellation stretches approximately seven square miles before brushing against the St Helena, Diamond Mountain and Howell Mountain AVAs. It is one of the warmest parts of the valley and is most notable for its red wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon. Perfect for Cabernet Sauvignon, these conditions encourage a lush, ripe character and fragrant aromas to develop in the grapes. A touch of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petite Verdot, and Syrah balance the rich dark fruit of our 2017 Calistoga Cabernet Sauvignon, adding a vibrancy to its lush mouthfeel and lingering dry finish and great acidity.
