Product Description
“Duyfken” translated as “Little Dove”, was a small Dutch ship built in the Netherlands. It was a fast, lightly armed vessel intended for shallow water, which may be why the artist chose to depict it nearly beached on a sand dune surrounded by the last waves of the ocean. A lone figure can be seen struggling to pull the ship to safety as it leans ominously down the slope of the desert sands.
