Jean-Michel Basquiat was an American artist greatly inspired by the hip-hop, post-punk and street art culture of Manhattan's Lower East Side in the 1970's. HIs neo-expressionist work focused on the separation and dichotomies of the human experience, and has been internationally acclaimed.
