Product Description
This incredible Cubist Chess Set from designer Jaroslav Juřica is interactive, nontraditional artwork, with an age-old function. The hand-carved collection is made of maple wood, and the chessboard is part of an upholstered box accommodating the chess pieces, with sides resembling the faceted edges of a crystal. The black color was achieved through a special technique of steaming with black stain, and the surface of the chessboard was created by an inlay technique, and then varnished and polished to high gloss.
Each set is signed by Jaroslav Juřica, and includes a certificate proving the origin of the handicraft. This special edition piece is limited to the number of the existing world champions recognized by the World Chess Federation - meaning that so far, only 16 of these boards have ever been made. Each available option is identically made, but corresponds to a different chess champion, and thus includes an individual serial number and signature.
