Product Description

The The Rocket Ferrofluid Lava Lamp is an interactive lava lamp made with magnetic liquid first invented at NASA.

The "lava" is made of a magnetic fluid called ferrofluid. The ferrofluid is a composite like material that exhibits liquid properties as well as the bizarre ability to be manipulated by a magnetic field. Ferrofluid forms geometric spiking patterns in the presence of a magnetic field. The retro rocket design is a throwback to ferrofluid's history at NASA. Ferrofluid was invented by NASA in the 1960's as experimental rocket fuel.

Like an ordinary lava lamp, the dark fluid will form blobs that rise and fall on their own by simply turning on the light in the base. Unlike an ordinary lava lamp, you can now interact with the 'lava' with ordinary magnets, which will let you control the flow of the ferrofluid.
