The Russian River Valley is known the world over for broad-shouldered Pinot Noirs that show the varietal’s classic finesse and sexiness. Gifted a tremendous vintage in 2014 (the year was rated 94 points for RRV Pinots by the Wine Enthusiast and another 94 points in the Wine Advocate as well), Big Bear harvested perfect fruit and did what any sensible winery should—very little!

Fermented for 12 days on the skins to extract color and intensity and pressed as gently as possible to preserve the fruit’s “just picked” character, this 2014 Huge Bear Pinot Noir was matured for one year in French oak, just 30% of which was new. When paired with turkey, chicken or spicy dishes, this Pinot displays a layered profile of pomegranate juice, Rainier cherry, and a touch of clove.
