Traditional British Navy Rope Dog Lead
Product Description
Created exclusively for Houndworthy at the last remaining British Royal Navy Dockyard, this excellent Traditional British Navy Rope Dog Lead is a fitting testament to British naval supremacy during the Age Of Sail. Over 400 years of naval rope-working heritage has gone into this leash. Throughout the 19th century, a British Royal Navy First Rate Ship-Of-The-Line required over 30 miles of rope for steering, gunnery, and virtually all aspects of life at sea. Rope had to be of the highest quality and tied by men who’s lives depended on the reliability of their craft.
This leash was finished by hand without clamps, glue or stapling — instead relying upon the tier’s skill to ensure it holds steady and true. We are immensely proud to offer you this enduring example of authentic British craftsmanship, helping to keep alive a tradition that helped build an Empire. Please be advised that your lead will arrive with a distinctly “farmy” whiff to it. You can thank the ancient methods used to produce the natural hemp fibre. Don’t worry, it will dissipate over time.
