Will the sharpening block work with a straight blade razor?

We don't recommend using Hone Alone with a straight razor or double-edge safety razors because you need to hold the razor at the exact angle of the bevel and it could be dangerous. Please use a stone and strop to sharpen your straight blade razor.

How does it work with cartridges with moisture strips? Will Hone Alone damage the moisture strips?

The moisture strips will not be damaged by Hone Alone and the moisture strips will not affect how well Hone Alone works.

Can it be used to sharpen a pocket knife?

Hone Alone is designed to sharpen very thin razor blades. For a pocket knife, I would suggest a more aggressive sharpener.

How many times can you use the sharpening block or how long does it last?

Hone Alone will last for 4-5 years and can be used thousands of times. If you find the honing pad is getting glazed or slick, you can apply a rubber rejuvenator used to make printer rollers more porous and soft.

Does it clean the razors as well as sharpening them?

Yes, it does clean as well as hone.

Can disposable Bic, Shick, and Gillette razors with blades be sharpened?

Yes, they can. Some disposables do not have a blade that pivots, so to sharpen them just make sure the blade is flat against the sharpening surface.

What is the sharpening side material made of?

It's a type of rubber that is treated (it's the secret sauce).
