Note: Damascus steel can rust if not cared for properly. Do not keep Damascus steel in a leather sheath for long periods of time, as the leather can cause the steel to rust. Please be aware Damascus steel products will arrive fully coated in a protective, non-toxic mineral oil, which can be easily washed off before use. Damascus steel should be regularly oiled with any household oil over the course of its life to prevent corrosion.

FAQ
Does "flat grind" mean the blade is blunt (not sharp)?

No, flat grind means it's a straight taper edge rather than a curved taper edge. Generally, a flat grind is used for sturdier or impact type applications so it has the heft to withstand an impact and still hold an edge.

Is it hand forged?

It is forged using a combination of a mechanical hammer, hand twists, and presses.

Why does the Damascus pattern not carry on to the spine of the tang?

The pattern continues through out the tang. The blade is dipped in acid to bring the carbon out and while fitting the handle it is polished off.

How many layers?

We start with a stack of 9 or 10 alternating plates and fold 5 times, so minimum of 288 layers up to 320 layers.
