Artisans in Chams and Fuban, Cameroon, create these round shields for decoration, taking inspiration from older traditional shields used in battle or ceremonial dance. These modern yet rustic shields look fantastic in groupings on walls or as individuals on shelving.

Newly produced African art is gorgeous and has wonderful creative meaning and value. This includes contemporary aesthetics from the continent that may not necessarily look traditionally ‘African’. The goal is to represent design in Africa that goes beyond the idea of ‘tribal’ as the styles of emerging artists are ever evolving.
