FAQ
Are these kites easy to fly? What is the standard height you can fly them at?

Sailing Ship Kites require a gusty wind to fly well. Beaches are an ideal place to get them up easily. There is no standard height required.

How long is the string?

The string is 200 ft long.

In the “Flame” picture it looks like both hands are being used to launch the kite. Is this necessary? If at a beach, could the kite be hoisted by one hand (while stepping or running backward)?

This depends on many variables. We have found it easiest to get going with two people: one holding the kite and launching into the wind and one a bit further away to run with the string. However, flying with one person is possible.
