Product Description
The modern Halda creates a new standard where good enough is never enough. Why, for example, did they choose to make the Space Discovery the first modern Halda? Because space is still the ultimate challenge. It is the last frontier. And the frontiersman in space does not need an ornament. He needs a workhorse. Then again, what could be more beautiful than a work of art that is supremely functional? The first manifestation of the unique Halda Concept is the Space Discovery, a limited and numbered edition of 128 pieces. It's delivered in a handmade wooden box including a steel bracelet, Velcro strap and a travel case in genuine leather.
The Halda Space Discovery redefines how we think about watches. The Space Module has been developed in close cooperation with and tested by astronauts on the Discovery mission STS-128. The results were outstanding. Based on feedback from the astronauts after the completed space mission, the Space Module was fine-tuned to perfection. Certainly, being a space explorer is hardly a requirement for this watch, but its demonstrated suitability for the most extreme environments illustrates the non-compromising quality of the Halda Space Discovery.
The nos movement was produced by A. Schild (developed together with Girrard Perregeux) and operates at 36 000 bph but it’s not produced by zenith. This is a "new old stock" movement with these old movements serviced and used. It's a Girrard Perregeux and A. Schild.

About the Designer
Mikael Sandström has 25 years of experience in the watch industry. He was responsible for designing many special watches such as the official Volvo Ocean Race watch, and watches for the royalty in Sweden, the Emirates and Thailand. His Halda watches are displayed in some of Europe’s watch museums, they have travelled to space with astronauts and have been the recipient of Red Dot Design Awards. The Race Pilot watch was recently awarded “watch of the year” by a special jury in London.
Mikael has always had an obsession with watches and has brought a 126 year old Swedish company back to the forefront.
