To most minds, the notion of a timepiece which is both a technically advanced instrument and a celebration of mechanical watchmaking might have appeared to be impossible. But finishing first is addictive, even for Halda, so they set their sights on creating the first real watch ever made for racing. Without compromising, the Halda Race Pilot fulfills this with its in-house electronic movement and the mechanical engine by Zenith.
What could be more fitting for the first real racing watch — the Race Pilot, than a Zenith movement? Founded in 1865 by Georgese Favre-Jacot, the company won the race to develop the world’s first real automatic chronograph, a movement that is still considered state-of-the-art today. Ever since its establishment, Zenith has continued to produce movements considered to be among the best there is.

About the Designer
Mikael Sandström has 25 years of experience in the watch industry. He was responsible for designing many special watches such as the official Volvo Ocean Race watch, and watches for the royalty in Sweden, the Emirates and Thailand. His Halda watches are displayed in some of Europe’s watch museums, they have travelled to space with astronauts and have been the recipient of Red Dot Design Awards. The Race Pilot watch was recently awarded “watch of the year” by a special jury in London.
Mikael has always had an obsession with watches and has brought a 126 year old Swedish company back to the forefront. For Mikael watches present the finest challenge of balancing electronics, with the art of traditional watch making. With Mikael's vision and unique designs, Halda is bringing watches with outstanding functionality and performance for those who never settle for less – astronauts and professional race drivers.
