The Grand Vintage 1997 is a prestige expression brimming with red fruits and candied sweetness. With a heart aged in rare Château Montrose red wine casks from Saint-Estèphe in Bordeaux, this vivacious single malt recalls a radiant new dawn at Glenmorangie.

Dr. Bill set out from the beginning to create a Glenmorangie that was dramatically different from any other, and after aging a full 13 years, that single malt had developed extraordinary berried depths. Dr. Bill then began devising a complex marriage of casks to enhance its unparalleled taste. Taking whisky wholly aged in bourbon casks, he hinted at Glenmorangie’s hallmark citrus notes. With whisky finished for many years in Oloroso sherry casks, he brought layers of sweetness and spicy finesse, while a skillful selection of secret casks also played their part. Aged to perfection over 23 years, this Grand Vintage wondrously celebrates Glenmorangie's kaleidoscopic style.

Tasting Notes
— Color: The deep ochre tones
— Aroma: Astonishing, perfumed and fruity complexity. Floral notes of rose, jasmine and carnation intermingle with soft red fruits, mint toffee, pastry or cake mix and a sweet confectionery top note. With water, even more soft, floral top notes like roses and carnations emerge, with a very subtle spiciness like sweet chili, clove, and ginger.
— Palate: A slightly tingly, gently spicy mouthfeel is followed by a symphony of sweet candy flavors, more soft red fruits, pineapple chunks and a taste reminiscent of pears and mandarin segments in fruit jelly. There are sweet ginger and chili notes, gentle almond marzipan, and vanilla toffee apple.
— Finish: Long and rich, with a final suggestion of sugared sweetness and the merest hint of spice.
