Aberfeldy Distillery is nestled within a lush valley in the foothills of the Central Highlands of Scotland. First planned in 1896 by the sons of John Dewar, the distillery was established to provide an ingredient for Dewar's smooth blended whiskies—a single malt that would become known as the ‘Golden Dram.' The water source is the famous Pitilie Burn, which is renowned locally for its quality and famed for its deposits of alluvial gold. Now popular in its own right as a single malt, Aberfeldy still makes up the heart of the Dewar’s blend.

The creation of the distinctive Aberfeldy spirit all takes place onsite, with extra long fermentation in larch washbacks, and distillation in tall pot stills overlooking the rolling Perthshire hills. These processes create the honeyed-richness for which their whisky is renowned. Dewar’s premium blends are also ‘double-aged’ with a secondary resting in oak barrels once the blend is created—a costly process that imparts an extra smoothness to the final whisky.

The 21 Year Single Malt is a richly textured dram matured in a combination of ex-Sherry and ex-Bourbon oak casks. Over two decades of resting in oak has added an overall richness that does not overwhelm. The palate is abounding in heather honey, creamy macadamia nuts, and chewy beeswax. It is plush with dried fruits, toasted coconut, silky oak, and a trace of smoke.
