Will it drain your car battery if you leave it plugged in?Newer model cars will disconnect the 9V outlet when the engine is off and doors are locked. For older model cars, the power consumed is very small so it would be the same drain to the battery as leaving an interior light on.

How do I clean it to make sure that it continues to work well?No need to clean it. If there is a yellow attachment that affects the appearance, you can wipe it with a cotton swab dampened with water.
