The history of G.H. Bass & Co. dates back to 1876, when George Henry Bass set out to make the very best shoe. In 1936, G.H. Bass & Co. put a stylish spin on a Norwegian farm shoe designed for "loafing in the field" — effectively inventing the penny loafer, or, as he playfully dubbed them, Weejuns. Still bench-crafted and hand-stitched, the iconic G.H. Bass & Co. loafers are still in demand by casual and fashion-forward crowds alike.
