Megalodon Shark Tooth // 5.4"
Product Description
This stunning light-colored Megalodon Shark Tooth (Carcharocles megalodon) is a rare "land find" from Beaufort County, South Carolina. It's an impeccably preserved tooth with serrations, a pointed tip and gorgeous overall shape. This specimen is ideal for avid Megalodon tooth collectors or anyone looking for a fascinating conversation piece. Finding a tooth on land in South Carolina - rather than a coastal river - is uncommon and really adds to the appeal of this unique fossil.
Megalodon has captured the public’s imagination in recent years. It’s hard to fathom that a creature this monstrous really existed. Megalodon is known to have preyed on whales and its biting force is estimated to have been 10 times greater than a Great White shark, even surpassing Tyrannosaurus rex! Scientists estimate that it measured roughly 10 feet long for every inch of tooth length (measured diagonally). Therefore, this colossal animal could have spanned well over 50 feet in length. It was most likely the largest predator to ever swim the oceans.
