Product Description

This stunning piece of polished Labradorite was mined in Madagascar and has exceptional colour and iridescence. The brilliant polished face stands out in stark contrast with the back of the specimen, which is a rugged, natural rock. The eye-catching hues of this alluring gemstone — green, blue, gold, and orange — shimmer in the light and change tone and intensity with the viewing angle. This amazing mineral would add elegance and vibrancy to any home or office. It’s a truly captivating piece.

Labradorite is a feldspar mineral, known for its changing flash of colors, called the Schiller Effect. This amazing property, also called “labradoescence," is caused by the diffraction of light between internal fractures in the stone. Named after the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, labradorite was introduced to the West by Moravian missionaries, who reached the town of Nain, Labrador in 1771 and acquired specimens from nearby Paul’s Island.
