Giant Megalodon Shark Tooth // 6.2"
Product Description
This Giant Megalodon Shark Tooth (Carcharocles megalodon) is from South Carolina. It’s a magnificent tooth with dramatic jet-black coloration and lustrous enamel. It’s a highly collectable Megalodon tooth because of its size (6.2 inches), completeness and quality: serrations and a pointed tip are present, the enamel coverage on both sides is significant and it has a complete root. These prized features are rarely present in large teeth, especially over the 6 inch benchmark.
Megalodon has captured the public’s imagination in recent years. It’s hard to fathom that a creature this monstrous really existed. Megalodon is known to have preyed on whales and its biting force is estimated to have been 10 times greater than a Great White shark, even surpassing Tyrannosaurus rex! Scientists estimate that it measured roughly 10 feet long for every inch of tooth length (measured diagonally). Therefore, this colossal animal could have spanned well over 50 feet in length. It was most likely the largest predator to ever swim the oceans.
