While using saline nasal sprays dates back thousands of years, FEND is different than most simple saline sprays or washes that you might be familiar with. The specific combination and portions of sodium and calcium salts make FEND more effective than other nasal sprays, which usually only contain table salt (sodium chloride). We have carefully developed FEND's formula over many rounds of scientifically testing its effectiveness and went to market with the most effective version.

Our recently-published research study illustrates the effectiveness of FEND vs Simply Saline, a common saline spray: While Simply Saline showed minimal difference in exhaled particles (and in some cases 3% higher), FEND reduced the number of exhaled airborne particles between 50%-99% within 15 minutes of use.

FEND's effectiveness has been published by peer reviewed journals and several safety studies conducted before we sent FEND to consumers. While you might think you can blend your own FEND at home, any home-made saline solution would lack that same vigorous testing and science-based evidence of its safety and effectiveness. Moreover, the standard saline solutions on the market we used in our own research showed minimal if any effectiveness in suppressing inhaled or exhaled particles, like FEND.

FEND is not a nebulizer, which is typically designed to deposit the nebulized substances in the deep lung, and thus require a very small particle size to penetrate into the deep lung.
FEND is portable and was designed with travel in mind. It is battery operated and is easily disassembled for travel.

Though FEND does contain salts (FEND is enriched with both sodium and calcium chlorides), it does not represent a risk for those looking to reduce or avoid salt in their diet or are concerned with high blood pressure. FEND places 2-3 milligrams (1/1000th of a gram) of calcium salt in the user's airways per application. Since there are about 5 Liters of blood in the typical human body, and a liter is 1000 grams, we are placing an infinitesimal amount of salt in the body relative to salt already in the blood.
