In 1904 one of Louis Cartier's friends, early aviation pioneer Alberto Santos-Dumont, asked if Cartier could design a watch that he could wear while flying. Previously the only timekeeping options were clocks and pocket watches, but Cartier came up with the Santos, the first men's wristwatch on record. This Cartier Santos Automatic is an elegant upgrade to a true original.
