And while most places in the world build their skyscrapers with metal scaffolding, Hong Kong has been using bamboo scaffolding for centuries. This means that each year, more than five million bamboo rods go straight to the landfills, usually only after one building project.

Erth Company is here to make a change. They turn recycled bamboo rods into the insoles of the most earth-friendly slip-on shoes ever. Their team collects discarded bamboo rods from the construction sites around Hong Kong, and cleans, disinfects, and laminates them to create the basis for breathable, flexible, comfortable shoes.
